According to his longtime personal pastor, Paula White-Cain, Trump in 2006 was taking steps to build a Megachurch.
“He wanted to build a house of God,” she told us. “He said, ‘Let’s do this, let’s build this before we’re too old,’” said White-Cain told Secrets.
Trump had an architect in place and was eager to have her take charge of the church, but White-Cain said the timing wasn’t right for her. At the time, her ministry was on nine TV networks, and she was heading to a divorce from her second husband in 2007.
She is now on a book tour, promoting her autobiography, Something Greater: Finding Triumph Over Trials.
Parts of her book discuss her 18-year friendship with Trump. “He is a Christian,” she said. But, she said, he’s quiet about it, not a Bible-quoter like former President Bill Clinton. “He doesn’t know ‘Christian-ese,’” she said, adding, “most people don’t.”
Honored to pray for @realDonaldTrump and our nation! Also discussed the many great accomplishments under the leadership of President Trump. He continues to work tirelessly on behalf of the American people

She has never revealed Trump’s desire to build a church. “It was part of a dream,” said White-Cain, who is married to the band Journey’s Jonathan Cain.
She suggested that it was going to be similar to the Crystal Cathedral in Los Angeles. “He said, ‘Let’s build a crystal cathedral for God,” she said.
White-Cain, who is often at the White House and who heads the president’s evangelical outreach, said that the topic hasn’t come up recently. But, she said, “Who knows what God will do. Who knows, maybe we will end up building a cathedral.”
Her book details the ups and downs in her life and her focus on God.
“I can write 100 books on the wisdom and lessons from stories in the Bible,” she wrote, adding, “But this particular story about Paula White-Cain is the one that I’ve struggled to write for many years.”
Her link to Trump is well-known, but she revealed in her book that she found out he wanted to run for president in 2014. “I’m going to go for this,” she said, Trump said. “Now, I know our prayers need to intensify,” she wrote.
“God used Donald Trump in my life as much as I was used in his life,” wrote the pastor, who delivered the invocation at his inauguration on Jan. 20, 2017.
“When it comes to my assignment to the president of the United States, I have come to understand that vindication is in the womb of time. I will stay faithful to what God has called me to do all the days of my life, and I don’t try to figure it out.”
